Clinical, Research and Scientific Work

Dr. Konstantinos G. Moulakakis is an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a consultant vascular surgeon at Attikon University Hospital, Athens, Greece. He previously served as Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Patras (2020–2024). He is a board-certified vascular surgeon in Greece, a Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS), and holds the German Board Certification in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. His international training includes two years in Cologne, Germany (Prof. J. Brunkwall), and a fellowship at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Houston, USA (Prof. H. Safi), with special interest in open repair of thoracoabdominal aneurysms. Dr. Moulakakis performs the full spectrum of open and endovascular procedures involving the abdominal and thoracic aorta, carotid arteries, peripheral arterial disease, and vascular access for hemodialysis. His clinical focus combines modern endovascular innovation with advanced open surgical techniques for complex aortic and peripheral pathologies. He has an extensive academic and research background, with more than 200 peer-reviewed publications indexed in PubMed, over 4,500 citations, and an h-index of 42 (Scopus). His research interests include aortic diseases, endovascular repair, carotid interventions, and vascular grafts. He has been principal or co-investigator in numerous international multicenter studies, including the OVATION Registry, VERN COVER, PERCEIVE, DEFINITE, ARMIES, and BLAST trials.
